About Andrea Mosey Art

A serene landscape with mountains, a lake, and a clear blue sky.

What's your story?

I believe every piece of art tells a story, and through my paintings, my aim is to help you tell yours.

Art has the power to stir emotion — to spark joy, evoke a memory, or transport you to another place or time. I have a painting in my own hallway that still stops me in my tracks; I pause to look at it almost every time I pass. That’s the kind of quiet connection I hope my work inspires.

My paintings are rooted in atmospheric landscapes and serene, ethereal skies — capturing moments of stillness and reflection amid ever-changing light and weather. They invite you to pause, breathe, and simply be present.

Whether you’re searching for a one-of-a-kind painting for your home, a limited edition print to refresh your walls, or a meaningful gift for someone special, my hope is that you find something here that speaks to you and stirs your imagination.

My Story

My first career took me around the world with the RAF, working in Air Traffic Control — definitely not as glamorous as it sounds!

After starting my family, I moved into the world of Learning and Development within the corporate sector. But everything changed when I discovered painting.

Like many people, the COVID lockdowns in 2020 gave me time to reflect and reconsider what I wanted from life and work. I realised I wanted to spend my time doing something more meaningful and creative, and in 2021 I took the leap to become a full-time artist.

Life has never been the same!

My Practice

Based in the beautiful landscape of North Yorkshire, I find endless inspiration in the vast skies and open spaces that surround me. The ever-changing light, the quiet moods of the land, and the drama of the clouds all find their way into my work.

I paint primarily in oils, creating evocative landscapes known for their sweeping horizons and atmospheric skies. My encaustic wax paintings take a more abstracted form, yet they share the same connection to place, mood, and memory.

Since starting my business, I’ve been building a sustainable creative practice rooted in connection — to the landscape, to the materials I use, and to the people who find meaning in my paintings and chose to live with my work in their homes.

My process

If only it were always like this — standing on a mountaintop, easel at the ready, with my little dog by my side!

In reality, most of my work happens in the studio. I gather reference photos of cloud formations, colour palettes and landscape compositions — but once I begin painting, those references are often set aside. Memory and imagination take over, guiding the atmosphere and mood of the piece.

For smaller oil paintings, I often work alla prima (in one sitting), while larger works evolve through multiple layers. I love the versatility of oil paint and the way it continually challenges and surprises me.

My encaustic paintings are a slower, more meditative process — often built from more than twenty layers of molten wax fused onto a wooden panel. Each layer is painted whilst molten, allowed to cool, and then carefully fused with a blowtorch, creating a depth and luminosity that feels almost alive.

My Work

Whether you’re searching for a striking statement piece or a smaller painting to bring warmth to a cosy corner, each of my artworks is crafted with care using the finest materials and finished to the highest standard.

Original paintings arrive ready to hang, complete with secure wall fixings — simply unpack, hang and enjoy.

High quality, limited edition prints offer a more accessible way to collect my work and are available in a soft white mount, shipped flat for protection.

Encaustic materials

I work in collaboration with a local beekeeper, using beeswax sourced from North Yorkshire hives to create my encaustic paintings. The wax is blended with damar resin — a natural tree sap that adds strength and durability — and coloured pigments to bring each piece to life.

Beeswax is a beautiful and enduring medium. It’s naturally resistant to moisture and doesn’t yellow or darken with age. In fact, there are encaustic artworks in museums around the world that are thousands of years old, still as vibrant as the day they were made.

Why buy from me? Here is what some of my collectors had to say.....

"I was lucky enough to attend one of Andrea's exhibitions and was immediately drawn to a painting that reminded me of where I grew up. It just drew me in and I could not stop looking at it, it literally gave me goosebumps.

I love the sense of peacefulness that her landscapes bring. If feels like you could be there, standing looking at the clouds and watching the world go by. It was a feeling that I wanted to take home with me, so I did!

 I'm absolutely delighted with it"

"I first saw Andrea’s work on Instagram and I fell in love with her amazing dramatic landscapes and seascapes. Her paintings are full of mood.

I recently lost a much loved Aunt, who was a true character and I wanted to buy something that would bring me joy in her memory so I purchased one of Andrea’s limited edition prints. It was a pleasure to buy from her, felt very personal and the print arrived beautifully packaged with a lovely card from Andrea. I am thrilled with it and hope to visit her studio in the future"

" I purchased a painting from Andrea's website and couldn’t be more happy with my experience. I was a little concerned purchasing online from the UK and having the painting shipped to the United States, but I was so pleased how smooth the process was. I received the shipping confirmation the next day and when I received my painting it was exactly as expected and expertly packed and securely boxed. This purchase will not be my last and would recommend purchasing beautiful art from Andrea. "

"We loved your art from the moment we came across it at the Affordable Art Fair in Battersea. We knew we had to own a piece and couldn't be more happy with the one we picked. We are first-time homeowners and this is the first original artwork we've purchased so it has taken pride of place on our living room wall and really helps turn our house into a home."
