Frequently asked questions

Question marks and a light bulb

Can I buy a print?

I have a print range available currently in my shop and add new images a couple of times a year.  My prints are fine art quality Giclee reproductions of my work using archival Hahnemühle paper and archival quality ink which is UV resistant. All my prints will last a lifetime behind glass.

Please sign up to my mailing list for up to date news on further releases.

Can I commission a painting?

If you have an image that you would like to commission a painting of and it is of a similar nature to the work I do, please do get in touch for a consultation.  Additionally, if you see a piece in my gallery that you love and would like something similar, please drop me a line to enquire about commissioning a similar piece.

Do you ship to European Union countries?

Unfortunately I am not able to ship to countries within the EU because of the changes following Brexit regarding VAT and import duties. As a small business I am unable to support the costs involved in setting this up.

How will my artwork be shipped?

Postage is free within the UK for paintings over £125 but I do ship outside of the EU for a reasonable charge. All work will be packaged with the utmost of care to protect your painting on the journey.

I use the most appropriate courier dependant on your country of origin and will keep you updated with the shipping number so you are able to track your package.

What if I'm not happy with my painting? Returns.

I am confident that you will be happy with your purchase but in the unlikely event that you are not, you are able to return your painting to me within 14 days of receipt. You will need to pay for the return postage.  As long as the painting is returned in an undamaged state, you will receive a full refund.

How do I care for an encaustic painting?

Treat an encaustic painting as you would any other piece of fine art. Use care when hanging, transporting or storing a painting. You will receive a full care sheet in the delivery of your encaustic painting but here are a few guidlelines:

  • Hang and store at normal room temperature. Avoid freezing and extremely hot temperatures, wax will soften at 65°C/150°F
  • Hang artwork out of direct sunlight. Sunny rooms are fine, just not directly in the sun’s glare.
  • When packing encaustic art for transportation, cover the face of the painting with wax paper. Do not use bubble wrap directly on the front of the painting as it may leave an imprint on the surface
  • During the first 12 months, as the wax cures, an encaustic painting may develop ‘bloom’. Bloom is a naturally occuring white residue that may appear on the surface of the wax. Bloom can be removed by gently buffing the surface of the painting with a soft lint free cloth. Buff by using a gentle circular motion until the dullness disappears, being careful around any textured areas.
  • Cleaning. Do not use solvents, polishes, varnishes or any cleaning products on encaustic surfaces. The buffing process can restore a high glass finish if the surface becomes dull over time

What if I damage my encaustic painting?

Like any piece of fine art, care is required when handling an encaustic painting.  If you accidently sustain some damage or scratch the surface of your painting, fear not! this can normally be easily repaired in my workshop and I will be happy to advise. Please email me at contact@andreamosey.com for further guidance.
